🦜 Welcome to the Tamelands!

Since starting Safran’s first book in July 2021, I’ve completed three manuscripts, all part of her YA epic heist fantasy world.

Today, I’m happy to announce that I’ve finished a fourth manuscript set in an all-new world.

Welcome to the Tamelands. This cozy fantasy is chock-full of mystical creatures and found family. Fans of Legends & Lattes and The House on the Cerulean Sea will love Shepherd’s journey of redemption, reconciliation, and fatherhood as he tends a nature preserve for endangered mysticals.

If you’ve read any of my work, you know I can’t resist a good twist. You’ll find healthy helpings of surprise, intrigue, and even danger. But this is, above all else, a cozy story.

If you’re asking “When can I read it?”—I’m planning to revise and query this one in the upcoming months instead of self-publishing. But I will be recruiting alpha readers right here in this newsletter audience, so keep your digital eyes peeled.

For the authorial nerds out there, here are the stats for my first draft of Project TAMELANDS:

Start date: January 16, 2025
End date: April 17, 2025
Target word count: 80,000
Actual word count: 86,197
Total days: 92
Writing days: 60
Writing hours: 65
Words/hour: 1,326

[NEXT TIME: The title reveal for SPOOKY THREEQUEL!]

TAMELANDS // As much as I want to dive into revisions, I’ll let this one breathe for about six weeks before I reread the story. Then comes the fun part: chiseling this block of story marble into a narrative Michelangelo’s David.

SPOOKY THREEQUEL // After a long call with my wonderful editor, Samantha Mendell, I’ve collected and organized all of my revision notes! Thanks to lots of planning and TAMELANDS being done for now, the revision process should only take a couple of weeks.

I’ve also finished the blurb with the help of the incomparable Book Blurb Magic! I’ll be sharing that soon when we call for beta readers (hint, hint)…

SPOOKY FINALE // I’m a bit terrified to start this one. But Safran’s story is racing toward its end, and I can’t wait to craft something even more ridiculously explosive and twisty than SPOOKY THREEQUEL for y’all.

Drafting begins May 5, unless I finish revisions for THREEQUEL earlier than expected. If all goes well, this will take me five months to draft.
