where in the world is Addison Horner?
(and other tales from the freelance life)
That’s a great question, I’d love to tell you.
After a whirlwind summer and frenetic fall, we’re saying goodbye to Florida and making our way to North Carolina!
I love Central Florida, but with Baby H approaching his second birthday, we’re looking forward to more family proximity as we enter a new stage of life.
In the midst of the craziness of buying, selling, packing, renovating, negotiating, panicking, farewelling, and general transitioning, I’m thrilled to 1) open my private music studio in NC and 2) resume writing, editing, and posting on a regular basis!

STORIES THAT BLEED // I’m disappointed to report that revising is actually awesome and makes your manuscripts better.
Beta revisions helped me hone the story’s impact—and trust me, this one’s gonna hit harder than anything in the first two books—and line edits trimmed over 3,000 words from the story. It’s lean, it’s mean, it’ll make you hurl your hardcover against the wall and DM me angry emojis after you finish the last scene.
IRON // 10,000-word false start, offense, replay first down.
I wrote a lot of words and loved them—but the story wasn’t quite there. After some major first-act revisions, I started the new first draft this week with a goal of diving into the action as quickly as possible. Let’s put monsters on the page!
This novella will be available as part of the Stories That Bleed Kickstarter.
SPOOKY FINALE // Writing PROJECT IRON as a prequel novella is helping me fill the final gaps in Safran’s final installment. I’ll tinker with the outline and characters until it’s time for new year, new draft.
TAMELANDS // Alpha readers are wrapping up their feedback. Some of my favorite tidbits:
“[REDACTED] was my favourite junior warden because he was just so quirky and… squishy.”
“I had to force myself to stop reading (dang responsibilities).”
“[REDACTED] was awesome. I loved every moment she was on page.”
“I really loved this story. It was sweet without being saccharine.”
Next step: revise the story for impact, clarity, and overall squishiness.
